It's a really basic course that isn't recognised outwith Scotsac. Ronnie and I had already done first aid courses before which were more in depth but my qualification had lapsed. Like Sam, I'd be interested in an alternative course.

I must admit that a course outwith Scotsac would give you more first-aid benefit. However external first-aid courses do not teach the use of oxygen which is classed as a specialist course. To get the o2 ticket you are not going to get the course cheaper than scotsac . It is probably worth doing the Scotsac one then a course run by another agency (red cross, st johns ambulance etc)The one day British Red cross course teaches quite alot for around 80 quid. You can download the course content , dates and costs from their web page.

I'm going to try and organise a Pot Dive at the Aberdeen Hyperbaric unit later in the year. They will give you a morning in the chamber then an afternoon's course on O2 admin and Diver first aid.
So it might be worth hanging on for this - noone better to teach than those that do it on a daily professional basis.

If you want a quick one day firsy aid course that is recognised I would recomend the PADI Medic/First Aid Course.... It is approved by the HSE as well.

That might be useful cause the O2/Heartstart one is not recognised by PADI for our Divemaster qualification.
