24 HOUR CHARITY DIVE - 18TH & 19TH AUGUST 2007
CASH FOR KIDS APPEAL
Due to the success of the first 24 hr open water dive event in Britain, we have decided to do it all again! Last year we raised £9646 for charity and we aim to beat that amount this year. This time we aim to carry on beyond 24 hours. Total time will depend on the amount of divers turning up!
Last year we had 58 divers taking part over the 24 hour period with around 20 support staff on the surface. (Every single diver who committed to the event turned up on time and carried out their dive perfectly) This year we hope to exceed that amount. The event raised a huge amount of money for a worthwhile charity and also gained a lot of publicity within the diving community, we even got mentions in many of the diving magazines.
Event Details
The event will be a 24 hour dive held in the open sea. The aim of the event is to have at least two divers continuously underwater over a 24 hour period based on 30 minute slots. This will be achieved by operating a relay system were each buddy team will spend a period of 40 minutes underwater (30min slot, 5min decent & 5min ascent), if possible each buddy pair will carry out two 40 minute dives over the 24 hour period.
The event will take place at the Quarry View Tearooms on Loch Fyne, situated a few miles after Furnace on the A83. The event will be held on the 18th of August and run from 12 noon on Saturday until 12noon (and beyond) on the Sunday, the owner of the tearoom has offered to keep his facilities open throughout the event, see our website for further details over the next few weeks
This year we hope to make the event bigger and better and are looking for sponsors, divers and support staff. If you are interested in taking part please contact us for further information – James@atlantic-divers.co.uk or Ian@atlantic-divers.co.uk
